Mission Statement

The mission of the Randolph Public Schools Multilingual Education Department is to empower all multilingual students to excel both within and beyond the classroom. We are committed to offering the highest quality educational experiences in our schools by providing explicit language instruction and targeted supports to ensure equitable access to meaningful and rigorous learning opportunities that engage all students in cultivating essential knowledge and skills to prepare them to reach their fullest potential.

At the heart of the RPS Multilingual Education Department’s vision for student success is our belief that “Multilingualism is a superpower”. Thus, we strive to foster thriving learning environments in which all multilingual learners and their families have a sense of belonging and are known, respected and valued for the linguistic and cultural assets they bring to our community.

Guiding Principles:

  • Multilingual Learners in Randolph attend schools in which all educators and administrators share collective responsibility for developing their academic and social language and demonstrate the belief that all MLs can meet or exceed grade-level standards with the right supports and scaffolds in place.

  • Randolph schools actively create welcoming and inclusive learning environments, plan for necessary supports and scaffolds, and deliver instruction that leverages cultural and linguistic assets of multilingual learners in order to promote student success with rigorous content.

  • Randolph schools prioritize culturally responsive and sustaining practices that encourage and empower students and their families through effective two-way communication and engagement.

  • Multilingual students are encouraged at all levels to participate in rigorous, grade-appropriate courses and have equal opportunity to meaningfully and fully participate in all aspects of school life.

  • Multilingual learners’ language, social-emotional, and cognitive development are interrelated processes that contribute to their success in school and beyond.
